Two organizing principles structure the 6 chapters: the core issues of leadership are illustrated and discussed through stories while the evolution of a leader is portrayed. It is hoped that practicing administrators and school leaders, parents, and those concerned with women's experiences in leadership will readily identify with the issues presented in the book. Chapter 1 addresses the need to come to terms with stereotypes and distortions, whereas chapter 2 provides insights on dealing with staff members. Chapter 3 treats the importance of empowerment and innovation, and chapter 4 presents stories about a school community and how leadership affected the ways that trusting and respectful relationships were formed. Chapter 5 highlights each person's need for recognition and acceptance and provides insights on what can be done to help others learn about self-acceptance and acceptance of others.
